The Board of Directors of ADRAL appointed a new managing director, Francisco da Costa, who took office on July the 1st. With this nomination, the Agency seeks to reinforce its management and intervention capacity, in order to face the challenges that the region will have in the next decade
The Board of Directors of ADRAL – Alentejo Regional Development Agency appointed a new managing director. Francisco da Costa, who took office on July the 1st, is 48 years old, has a degree in History, is a businessman in the area of communication, 2nd secretary of CIMAC – Central Alentejo Intermunicipal Community, a consultant in the public and private sectors and a business administrator and is now the new managing director of ADRAL.
With this nomination, the Agency seeks to reinforce its management and intervention capacity, in order to face the challenges that the region will have in the next decade. The challenges defined for the region in the 2030 horizon are mainly: the strengthening of territorial cohesion, the promotion of the energy transition, for a greener economy and society, the adoption of the digital agenda and the increase of entrepreneurship 4.0, the internationalization of companies in the Alentejo and the capture of foreign investment, among others.
ADRAL is the Alentejo Regional Development Agency, a low-density region that covers 1/3 of the Portuguese continental territory, mapped with 47 municipalities. ADRAL combines public and private shareholders and acts as a platform for local, regional and international cooperation schemes. It is a body governed by public law and public aims, working towards regional development in a big number of areas, from Studies, Information, Territorial Marketing, Economic and SME support, Territorial Development, Entrepreneurship, Consulting to Local Government and SME, Training and Quality Assurance, ICT, Innovation, Smart Cities, Energy Efficiency and Foreign Direct Investment.
Regarding business support, ADRAL’s mission aims to increase regional competitiveness and levels of innovation. ADRAL has been leading the partnership responsible for the creation and operationalization of SRTT – Technology Transfer Regional System, which gathers in the same program the main actors in the R&D+I system, in order to boost innovation and technology transfer from research institutions to the entrepreneurs in the region.
