The European Commission is launching the first Horizon Impact Award.  The prize acknowledges and rewards the most influential and impactful project results under Horizon 2020 and its predecessor, the 7th Framework programme (FP7, 2007-2013). This is an excellent opportunity for development agencies to showcase their best practices and achievements, and to gain visibility on a European scale.

The contest is open to all legal entities, individuals or teams, that have completedFP7 or Horizon 2020 project. It aims to illustrate the wider socio-economic benefits of EU investment in research and innovation and to encourage project beneficiaries on how best to manage and utilise research results.

The prize will highlight concrete achievements that have demonstrable value for society and will celebrate the people who made it happen. The contest is open for projects that can provide proof of the link between funded project results to their uptake and creation of societal benefits and their potential long-term impact for society, the economy and/or policymaking. Each of the five winners will receive €10,000.

The winners will be announced at the award ceremony in Brussels in September, with more than 4,000 high-level industry participants and promoters of innovation. The Horizon Impact Award will provide the winners with high visibility in the form of public interest and increased media coverage. The Commission will further promote the winners by inviting them to provide testimony at other major events.

Applications can be done through the Funding and Tenders portal. The deadline for submission is 28 May 2019. More information about the eligibility and award criteria can be found on the Horizon Impact Award website. The contact point for enquires regarding the award is
