The Open Innovation 4.0 project has been nominated as a finalist in the 2018th edition of the European Enterprise Promotion Awards (EEPA) in the “Improving the business environment” category.  This project is developed by IDEPA, the Regional Development Agency from Asturias, together with CEEI Asturias, the European Centre for SMEs and Innovation. Precisely, EURADA co-organises AGORADA+ this year in Oviedo with IDEPA as a recognition to their 2017 Best European Development Agency EURADA Award, selected by fellow European RDA´s.

The EEPA Awards are an initiative from the European Commission to encourage entrepreneurship and European SMEs at the national, regional and local levels. In this year’s edition, a total of 303 projects from 32 countries were presented, of which 56 were selected by the national coordinators.

The European Jury, formed by different representatives from the European Commission, the Committee of Regions, and entrepreneurial and academical authorities, selected 19 finalists in 6 different categories, being the Open Innovation 4.0 project the only one selected from Spain. The winners will be announced at the 2018 Award Ceremony that will be held during the SME Assembly in Graz (Austria) next 19-21st of November 2018.

Open Innovation 4.0 is an IDEPA and CEEI Asturias programme within the Regional Industry 4.0 strategical framework. This programme is based in the cooperation between the public and private sectors and allows to tackle challenges related with digitalization and Industry 4.0, fostering growth within new and innovative SMEs under the Open Innovation model.

Leader enterprises within their fields present their technological challenges to entrepreneurs and start-ups, selecting afterwards the solution that better adapts to their needs. Then they pair up with a new enterprise and start an acceleration programme that develops within the Incubator 4.0 with the goal of designing a common cooperation project. Finally, the projects are presented to IDEPA´s open call for Open Innovation to seek funds.
