The project IN4WOOD – Industry 4.0 for wood and furniture manufacturers has been financed by the Erasmus+ KA2 Programme for Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices – Sector Skills Alliances.
The furniture and wood sector identified a shortage of highly qualified professionals in ICTs and emerging technologies related to Industry 4.0 crucial to operate in today’s business environment. Major EU universities, VET technology providers, enterprises, and wood and furniture experts developed IN4WOOD to address this need by strengthening knowledge and best-practice exchange within and outside the project consortium so as to create training material for furniture and wood sector’s stakeholders. IN4WOOD developed training material to support furniture and wood sector’s stakeholders (specifically CEOs, managers and production department heads) to help them understand and employ key enabling technologies of the Industry 4.0 in the respective businesses and foster competitiveness.
Useful Project Results:
- IN4WOOD developed a costless online platform with gamification techniques about training materials and 200+ videos on key enabling technologies of the Industry 4.0 relevant for wood & furniture sectors;
- IN4WOOD consulted 600+ wood and furniture enterprises, VET/HE institutions and Industry 4.0 experts drafting a Report on needs of the Furniture Industry regarding Industry 4.0 Key Enabling Technologies;
- IN4WOOD also created a Training path guide focused on training and learning needs of VET / HE students, production manager and CEOs of the furniture and wood sector;
- Based on the training path guide, IN4WOOD designed a joint curriculum for “manufacturers of furniture smart factories” with flexible learning pathways and the assessment, recognition and accumulation of learning outcomes of each potential learner.
