EURADA had the pleasure to organise a study visit to Brussels for a Bulgarian delegation led by Plamen Panchev CEO at Trakia Economic Zone, Vyara Pancheva Project Manager at Trakia Economic Zone and Desislava Koleva Head of Economic Development Department at Municipality of Gabrovo. The study visit took place on the 4th and 5th of December.

The Economic Zone (TEZ) is one of the biggest economic projects in Bulgaria, a public-private partnership that includes six major industrial zones in the region of Plovdiv. Together the zones in TEZ attracted over 1.2 billion EUR of fixed- capital investments. The total area of TEZ is 1070 hectares of which 330 hectares already occupied. From the start of the 1st industrial zone Maritza in 1995 some 120 investors (90 multinationals) have located their sites in the region opening over 15 000 jobs. The work of TEZ is characterised by: quick start of operation, professional support and project management contribute to the fast project implementation. The Zone has ready production, logistic and commercial facilities to offer.

The delegation together with EURADA had meetings with representatives of the European Commission, more specifically with DG EMPL and DG RTD, discussing about EC programmes related to educational, vocational training, research, innovation ecosystem and industrial policies. Furthermore, meetings were organised with representatives of RDAs such as ART-ER (Emilia-Romagna Region, Italy) and ADR Nord-Est (North-East Region, Romania) to exchange best-practices related to foreign direct investment, capacity building for industrial parks and business opportunities.
