AGORADA 2020 conference will place the focus on regional innovation ecosystems across Europe. Place-based policies to support innovation has a long-term impact on economic growth and environmental sustainability.
The conference has, therefore, a wide mission: to cover all relevant European programmes and initiatives for the next programming period 2021-2027. Among all the actors in regional innovation ecosystems, we will specifically focus on SMEs as they are important drivers of economic growth in the EU.
During the first day of the conference, a strong emphasis will be placed on instruments of regional governments and actors supporting SMEs in the pursuit of growth (from reforming internal governance and management of programmes to developing further a classic instrument of regional development such as voucher schemes). During the second day, scene-setting and discussion will be structured with and supported by a keynote speech and panel discussions with input from European Commission officials. This second part of the conference will seek to inform participants on the principal key programmes and initiatives of the MFF 2021-2027.
AGORADA is a yearly conference for regional practitioners working in development agencies. Its main purpose is to share experiences and learn together about how to address common challenges. The conference takes place every year in spring/summer in Brussels to learn about how EU institutions and programmes support economic growth in relation to various thematic priorities. The development agencies have all proven record of supporting innovation in SMEs at any level: local, regional, national and European.
