Regions at the core of Europe’s future competitiveness and innovation leadership

Policy Roundtable on the MFF (2028-2034) and Regional Innovation Strategies

Europe stands at a critical point. As negotiations on the 2028-2034 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) advance, the choices made in the coming months will determine whether the European Union strengthens its long-term competitiveness through its territories or drifts towards a more centralised investment model.

This policy roundtable, co-organised by EURADA and ERRIN, will reflect on the future role of Smart Specialisation (S3) in the post-2027 EU policy and funding framework. The meeting follows up on the launch of the Open Letter on the Future of the EU Budget, signed by 12 European networks to emphasise the strategic importance of place-based innovation.
