Main topic of discussion:
open call “Interregional Innovation Investments Instrument (I3) Capacity Building in less developed regions - Strand 2b” published last 15 December 2022 with a deadline of 16 March 2023.
The call's objective is to test new approaches to increase the capacity of regional innovation ecosystems in less developed regions participating in EU value chains. Actions under this call shall facilitate the cooperation between regions which want to develop and increase their capacity to participate in the Interregional Innovation Investments programme, e.g. for the submission of proposals under the I3 Instrument Strands 1 and 2a calls.
The objectives of the “Interregional Innovation Investment” instrument are to support interregional partnerships to deliver investments on S3- Smart Specialisation Strategy related priorities and to reinforce globally competitive EU value chains. The I3 call will support stronger interregional cooperation in investments and will make sustainable connections by linking regional ecosystems in shared smart specialisation areas vital to accelerate market uptake of research results and stimulate innovation.
In 2021, EURADA created a Working Group on the I3, chaired by Valerie Bandini from ART-ER as member of the Commission Expert Group in I3 representing EURADA. Over the last 2 years of activities of the Expert Group, EURADA has participated and contributed to the Commission Expert Groups meetings bringing the inputs provided by some EURADA members. It is still possible to apply to become member of the EURADA Working Group on I3, whose main tasks are the following:
- provide inputs based on their experiences and vision/expectations on interregional innovation investments to be conveyed to the EC Expert Group;
- provided feedback and contributions to the documents related to the Work Programme, the calls and any other document/work proposed by the Commission;
- provided support to EURADA representatives in the I3EG upon request.
