Strengthening local actors and youth capacities at the regional level in the field of EU cohesion policy

EURADA member agency, the Regional Agency for Economic Development of Šumadija and Pomoravlje, in partnership with Srem Regional Development Agency and Southern Serbia Regional Development Agency, presented the results of its project titled "Strengthening local actors and youth capacities at the regional level in the field of EU cohesion policy."

The presentation took place on April 27th at the EU info corner in Niš, Serbia, under the German-Serbian development cooperation project, "Support to Public Administration Reform in the EU Accession Process," implemented by GIZ.

The project aimed to develop the capacity of local institutions and inform the public, particularly the youth, on the subject of EU cohesion and increase awareness of the opportunities that EU cohesion policies offer. The project's consultant, Rafael Pupovac, explained that the project focused on two main target groups: the youth and local actors in the regions involved in the project's implementation.

Over 260 participants attended the two-day training programme across three cities: Stara Pazova, Niš, and Kragujevac, where they received training through four modules. The programme's first objective was to increase the level of information among young people and local agents, whether they were employees of local autonomous governments or representatives of citizens' associations, on the EU cohesion policy itself.

The partnership of the Regional Agency for Economic Development of Šumadija and Pomoravlje, Srem Regional Development Agency, and Southern Serbia Regional Development Agency provided geographic coverage for Serbia with the project's activities, as noted by the project leader, Nataša Đorđević, subdirector of the Regional Agency for Economic Development of Šumadija and Pomoravlja. The project's results and conclusions were presented to representatives of youth organisations and local actors in southern Serbia during the meeting in Niš, including Marija Nikić, representative of German-Serbian Development Cooperation, GIZ, Valentina Vidović, representative of the Ministry of European Integration of the Republic of Serbia, and Dragana Stojanović, director of the Southern Serbia Regional Development Agency.

EURADA congratulates the Regional Agency for Economic Development of Šumadija and Pomoravlje, Srem Regional Development Agency, and Southern Serbia Regional Development Agency for successfully implementing the project, and for their efforts towards promoting cooperation and development in regional development.
