What can Responsible Research and Innovation offer Smart Specialisation Strategies in their reorientation towards sustainability?

TetRRIS, a project EURADA is a member of (along with 2 of our members – SODERCAN and DARINNO), is hosting a side event of the EU Week of Regions and Cities to share some insights relating to the ongoing reorientation of Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3) towards sustainability and how Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) can be integrated into regional innovation and development policies.

The event will feature keynote addresses by Katerina Ciampi Stancova (OECD) on how different policy paradigms (RRI, TI, SI) can help reorient Smart Specialisation Strategies, and Hannah Schmidberger (JRC) who will present on ‘Partnerships for Regional Innovation’. Additionally, there will be a roundtable of experts discussing different aspects of integrating RRI within S3.

TetRRIS is a project which, using 4 pilot regions, is looking at how RRI and S3 can be applied and integrated into policies and practice at the regional level. This event will reference the actions being taken by the project, as well as provide a broader lens to the concepts, which may be of interest for regions or actors at the regional level interested in how to integrate RRI into their policymaking, or how to transition from S3 to Smart Specialisation Strategies for Sustainability (S4).

The event will be taking place on October 13 from 9:00 – 10:30 am at EURADA’s premises in Brussels, as well as online for those unable to participate in person.
