RDAs role in Europe
Regional development agencies (RDAs) have played a key part in the creation of bottom-up regional policy in Europe providing numerous benefices. As diverse as the countries to which they belong, European RDAs engage in a wide range of activities, including promoting economic development, improving business efficiency and competitiveness, assisting companies in internationalizing within their territory, promoting employment, and contributing to sustainable development.
Integration of clusters in economic governance, policy design, and implementation at the regional level is essential. Regional authorities need to know their clusters and understand how they can shape, improve and effectively help in the design and the implementation of the regional development policies. Cluster organisations and their members implement projects that are relevant to the economic development of their local communities. They engage in collaboration with other European clusters in the same or related economic activities and thus complement regional assets and reinforce capacities to lead the green transition, accelerate the digital transition, and build resilience.
