EURADA Launches New Working Group to Support the Creation of Strong Project Consortia

Article written by the EURADA Secretariat

On Friday, 13 June 2025, EURADA successfully launched its new Working Group on Building Consortia for Projects, bringing together more than 30 Development Agencies from across Europe for an engaging and productive virtual kick-off session.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in strengthening collaboration among EURADA members and their extended networks, with the ultimate goal of increasing the success rate of joint project proposals submitted under EU funding programmes.

A Strategic Initiative to Foster Project Partnerships

The Working Group has been established in response to a growing need among regional development agencies to find aligned partners, share knowledge, and co-develop competitive EU project applications.

Structured around three core components — facilitated discussions, partner matchmaking, and joint proposal development — the Working Group provides a space for agencies to connect around common priorities, exchange insights, and collaborate effectively.

Participants in the first session actively explored current EU funding opportunities, identified shared thematic interests, and began forming strategic alliances with other agencies and relevant ecosystem stakeholders, such as clusters, innovation hubs, and regional authorities.

These early interactions already show promise in forming high-potential consortia capable of addressing key EU priorities and responding to upcoming calls, particularly those closing in early autumn 2025.

Strengthening the Role of Development Agencies in EU Funding

The Working Group is more than just a networking platform, it is designed as a catalyst for project development. It supports EURADA members by providing a structured framework for:

  • Knowledge sharing and peer exchange

  • Long-term strategic networking

  • Targeted support in project ideation and proposal writing

By connecting agencies with complementary expertise and interests, the initiative enhances the capacity of development agencies to play a more active and successful role in the European funding landscape.

An Inclusive Platform for Broader Ecosystem Engagement

While the primary audience includes EURADA members, the Working Group also encourages the participation of wider stakeholders, such as:

  • Regional public authorities (particularly EU projects departments)

  • Innovation intermediaries and business support organisations

  • Clusters, companies, and research actors

This inclusive approach reflects EURADA’s mission to serve as a hub for regional innovation and cooperation, ensuring that development agencies are well-positioned to drive impactful EU-funded initiatives in their territories.

Looking Ahead: Building on a Successful Start

EURADA sincerely thanks all participating members for their enthusiastic engagement and commitment to collaboration. Their proactive contributions during the kick-off meeting have laid the groundwork for many promising project partnerships.

A special word of appreciation goes to Cristina Gallardo Rey (FUNDECYT-PCTEX), who played a pivotal role in launching this initiative and guiding its strategic direction. Her leadership has been instrumental in setting a strong foundation for future activities.

As we move into the next phase of the Working Group, EURADA looks forward to supporting members in their efforts to build consortia, co-create proposals, and unlock new funding opportunities that advance regional development across Europe
