Athanasia Maria Tompolidi
Dr. Athanasia-Maria Tompolidi joined EURADA as a Policy and Project Officer in July 2025. She currently manages the Horizon Europe projects: CLIMAAX, which focuses on the Mission Climate Adaptation and the CCRI Knowledge Hub, which focuses on Circular Economy transition for Cities and Regions. She supports also the Horizon Europe project CircSyst focusing on Circular Systemic Solutions. She is responsible for the Working Group of Insular Regions.
Athanasia-Maria holds a PhD in Machine Learning on Satellite Image Analysis for mineral mapping applications obtained from the Department of Geography of Harokopio University of Athens (HUA) in collaboration with the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing of the National Observatory of Athens (IAASARS/NOA). She has been awarded 2 scholarship grants for her research, and she has several scientific publications in journals with high impact factor (IF). She is also reviewer of scientific journals of Elsevier and MDPI publishing on the field of Remote Sensing and Space Applications.
She worked as a Project Officer in the Horizon Europe Climate Unit of the European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) of the European Commission (EC) from 2022 to 2023. The last two years she worked as a Research and Innovation (R&I) manager in the private sector managing a portfolio of European projects for the Energy Transition in Remote Communities.
She has 7 years of experience in project management of national and European-funded projects, and she holds a certification of EU project management from the College of Europe (CoE).
