ADERLY amongst its peers

Created by Cédric GRIGNARD |

ADERLY/Invest in Lyon, whose mission has been to promote the economic development of Lyon region to ensure its visibility and its positioning on a European level, combined with relentless effort to reach the utmost favourable economic and social conditions since 1974, was honoured by its peers for its Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Strategy.

3-times in-a-row among the Top10 in fDi Magazine’s 2020/2021 rankings for its strategy on Foreign Direct Investment – European Cities and Regions of the Future in the Large Cities category, Tier 2 Cities of the Future, and Tech Cities of the Future – ADERLY received the bespoke award for Triple Helix by the FDI-specialised jury gathered by the FT-group-owned magazine.

The Agency has taken a specific turn in its strategy for the last 3 years, favoring quality over quantity, and focusing on investment with positive impacts, be they environmental, social or territorial. Guided by the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals and membership of the Global Compact network, ADERLY has reshaped its approach to identify the most suited investment to complement and complete the economic ecosystem of Lyon/Saint-Etienne area. The new strategy is backed by a reshuffling of the service packages, allocated to projects upon their characteristics (i) fitting ESG criteria and (ii) filling the gap in the local productive value chain.

With the objective of supporting sustainable investments with opportunities of cooperation with local economic and academic actors, including innovation clusters, labs, and technological platforms, ADERLY is gearing all its efforts up for a commonly defined map of sectors and activities, targeting ESG-compliant companies, and identifying value-chain complementary investments to restore and boost the territory’s resilience, robustness, and adaptiveness.

Because the Agency is at the core of regional economic hubs and developed international relations as early as during the 80s, its FDI strategy has been backed by a steady experience of needs’ analysis and an openness to partnership. This is probably the reason lying under the Triple Helix award that ADERLY was honored to receive. Now comes the time to continue sharing its experience among the EURADA community, notably when Jean-Charles FODDIS, Executive Director, accepted to propose Cédric Grignard, Head of Innovation, for a seat in EURADA’s Executive Committee as well as to sit on its Board of Directors. This new role combines perfectly with ADERLY’s heavy interest for Europe and its EC-funded programs, source of partnerships and collaboration for an enhanced and stronger socioeconomic development in European regions.
