From 2021 to 2022: Scottish Enterprise continues to support investment

In 2021, Scottish Enterprise, our member in Scotland, has done an incredible job in facilitating international investment and involving in projects in the region. Scotland has been recognized as a leading global digital and analytics hub, thereby making it a more attractive and desirable region for FDI and technology innovation.

Specifically, Scottish Enterprise has helped companies to choose sites, offering financial support, and created tons of jobs. In 2022, it will continue to highlight the very best the country has to offer to companies and investors.

Let’s take a moment and review what they had accomplished during 2021. In total, 74 inward investment has been accomplished with the support of Scottish Enterprise, which is remarkable as Covid-19 contributes to the decrease of overall global flows of FDI.

In the successful COP26 in Glasgow in November, where Scottish Enterprise announced many inward investment projects that will take place in Scotland. This included Dutch-headquartered global health & nutrition company, DSM choosing its site in Dalry, North Ayrshire to manufacture its ground-breaking feed additive, Bovaer®, which results in a 30% or more reduction in methane produced by cattle. The project, supported by Scottish Enterprise, will create and safeguard hundreds of high-quality jobs.

Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning Systems Europe Ltd revealed that it would invest £15m in its manufacturing facility in Livingston to develop the next generation of heat pumps.  Scottish Enterprise is contributing to the company’s investment project with a wide package of support, creating and protecting almost 400 jobs.

Looking ahead, Scottish Enterprise is determined to promote Scotland as a competitive economy for investment. Their specialists in more than 30 locations and their prestigious international networks such as GlobalScot, will be instrumental in delivering the goal. What they desire to focus on are sectors where Scotland is truly the world leader, ranging from carbon transition, digital, health and life sciences, and high-value manufacturing.
