Get ready for AGORADA+ & Clusters meet Regions!

Written by Jip Lenssen – Junior Project Officer

AGORADA+ & Clusters meet Regions will bring together over 100 representatives of Regional Development Agencies, Cluster Organisations, Companies, Public Authorities, the Enterprise Europe Network and many more to discuss Croatian digital transformation and interregional cooperation.

AGORADA+ is one of EURADA’s four main annual events, usually held in one of the association’s members’ regions. For the first time in its history, AGORADA+ will be organised by all EURADA members from one country. This year, AGORADA+ will take place in parallel with the fourth edition of the Clusters meet Regions workshop, an initiative from the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP).

The conference will take place in Zagreb (Croatia) on 29 and 30 November under the leadership of SIMORA – Development Agency of Sisak-Moslavina County. The event is co-organised by DURA – Dubrovnik Development Agency, ZARA – Zagorje Development Agency, the Entrepreneurial Centre of Krapina-Zagorje County, ZADRA NOVA– Zadar County Development Agency, with the support of ZICER – Zagreb Innovation Centre.

Context

Though the last couple of years has been a period of economic growth for Croatia, it is also a time of persisting socio-economic challenges such as the post-Covid-19 recovery. To safeguard economic development, it is vital that EU regions can compete with other economies in the rapidly developing economic and social environment.

AGORADA+ is an opportunity for stakeholders to get together to explore how clusters, regional development agencies and other actors can fostercollaboration in the implementation of regional and national economic development policies to promote digital transformation and interregional cooperation in Croatia to safeguard the resilience of regional economic development.

AGORADA+ facilitates the exchange of good practices of clusters playing a pivotal role in regional economic policies that drives the economic transition and foster collaboration between clusters and regional stakeholders for the industrial development of regions.

Please refer to this input paper composed by the European Cluster Collaboration Platform that further delves into the key considerations for the future development of the region from a perspective of the Croatian clusters’ ecosystem.

The final agenda of the conference is now available here. The programme provides a thorough yet diverse outlook of regional economic governance and policies. Topics such as cross-border cooperation, Smart Specialisation, the collaboration between Clusters and national & regional authorities, digitalisation and challenges to Regional Development Agencies will be discussed.

What’s more, a pitching session will be held where Clusters and regions will present themselves and their collaboration proposals to find new partners.

AGORADA+ will be concluded with a site visit to the Gaming Incubator: PISMO in Novska, an initiative by EURADA member and main member event organiser, SIMORA from Sisak-Moslavina County. The incubator offers a business infrastructure for SMEs and the local (unemployed) population with a range of services for the establishment and development of start-ups.
